CALDWELL — It was a long ride back to Claflin for the Central Plains Junior-Senior High School Oilers football team Oct. 28, after they lost on the road 8-57 to the Caldwell Bluejays.In the first half, the Oilers had 101 rushing yards and one fumble.

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains Junior-Senior High School Lady Oilers are headed to State after beating Otis-Bison at home Saturday in the finals of the Class 1A Division substate tournament in Claflin.The Lady Oilers were the No. 1 seed in the tournament. They received a bye during the first match.

This past Saturday, the Ellsworth High School cross country boys and girls competed in the 3A regional hosted by Southeast of Saline. The top three teams and top 10 individual runners were guaranteed a trip to the State meet in Wamego.

Ellsworth senior Nicole Haase ended her high school tennis career Saturday with a second place finish at the 3-2-1A State Tennis Championships at the Maize South High School Tennis Complex at Wichita.Head coach Eric Anderson said the road to the championship game was paved with talent.

The Ellsworth High School Cross Country runners competed at the Lakeside Invitational Meet this past Thursday at the Downs Golf Course.

Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School Bearcat Nicole Haase and Central Plains Junior-Senior High Schoo Oiler Kyla Metro are both heading to state after Haase finished first and Metro fourth in singles play at the Class 3-2-1A Regional Tennis Tournament Oct. 8-9 in WaKeeney.

This past week was a busy one for the Ellsworth runners. On Tuesday the runners competed on the hills of the Ellsworth golf course. I’d like to take this chance to thank all those who volunteered their time to help put on this meet, and to those who helped get everything set up, direct traffic, etc.

The Ellsworth High School Junior Varsity Volleyball Team took first place with a 4-1 record, Oct. 9, during the round robin tournament in Ellsworth.Against Little River, the Lady Bearcats won two games, 25-13 and 25-23.
