Haase takes second at state tennis

Ellsworth senior Nicole Haase ended her high school tennis career Saturday with a second place finish at the 3-2-1A State Tennis Championships at the Maize South High School Tennis Complex at Wichita.Head coach Eric Anderson said the road to the championship game was paved with talent.

Haase, Metro advance to state tennis

Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School Bearcat Nicole Haase and Central Plains Junior-Senior High Schoo Oiler Kyla Metro are both heading to state after Haase finished first and Metro fourth in singles play at the Class 3-2-1A Regional Tennis Tournament Oct. 8-9 in WaKeeney.

Ellsworth course proves tough on runners

This past week was a busy one for the Ellsworth runners. On Tuesday the runners competed on the hills of the Ellsworth golf course. I’d like to take this chance to thank all those who volunteered their time to help put on this meet, and to those who helped get everything set up, direct traffic, etc.

Lady Bearcats JV take first in volleyball

The Ellsworth High School Junior Varsity Volleyball Team took first place with a 4-1 record, Oct. 9, during the round robin tournament in Ellsworth.Against Little River, the Lady Bearcats won two games, 25-13 and 25-23.

Ellsworth’s Byron Johnson wins Lyons

Tuesday, Sept. 28, the EJSHS cross country teams traveled to Lyons High School to compete in their invitational, hosted on the campus of LHS.Summer had held on for one more day, making it a warm day to run. Regardless, it proved to be a great day to run.

When asked how he thought the Bearcat football team played in Friday night’s Homecoming game against the Beloit Trojans, Bradley Vopat said, “I think we showed a lot of grit, spirit, and what we really can do when we play at our best”.

Cross country team travels to Southeast

The Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School cross country teams traveled Tuesday, Sept. 21, to Southeast of Saline.Coach Eric Coonrod said, “This hasn’t been one of our strongest courses in the past, but good weather and a slightly different configuration translated into a faster course for all teams.
