Ellsworth wrestlers traveled to Phillipsburg Saturday, Feb. 8, for the Panther Classic. Three of the five boys placed in the tournament.
Tyler Romero won one of his matches by fall over Caldada of Ell-Saline.
Feb. 4 found the Oilers traveling to Otis-Bison. The Oilers were hit with influenza and they were absent one of their key players, Jerred Bieberle. Bieberle, a senior, has been a major leader of the team in all aspects of the game. This opened the door for the bench to find their game.

The Lady Bearcats traveled to Beloit Friday, Feb. 7, bringing home a loss for the evening, 31-52, despite a strong offense and defense.
Jaide Talbott was the top scorer for the Lady ‘Cats putting 12 points on the board.
Wilson High School celebrated Winter Homecoming and USD 112 Hall of Fame recipients Friday, Feb. 7.
Charlie Hlad was crowned King of Courts. Inducted into the Hall of Fame were:

Coach Gonzales and I could not be prouder of our boys at the tournament Jan. 23-25. We are coming together as a team and a family.
We started the season with a lot of injuries and we have everyone back except Jacob Oberle. Jacob had knee surgery and he will have to skip his junior year.
Due to winter weather the Jan. 17 game against Sacred Heart was rescheduled and played Monday, Feb. 3, at Ellsworth. The girls’ game ended 51-43 with Sacred Heart ahead.
The first quarter started out badly for the Lady Bearcats.
The Lady Bearcats started off strong Friday night in their home game against Southeast of Saline.
However, the end didn’t match the beginning and Ellsworth ended the night with a 48-32 loss.
Lakyn Tenbrink grabbed the tip-off to take the offensive, and scored the first points of the night.
Ellsworth’s Braden Schulte had a night to remember Friday, Jan. 31; however, his game high 24 points still weren’t enough to clinch a Bearcat win. The final score was 47-50 in favor of the Southeast of Saline Trojans during a close game at Ellsworth.
Ellsworth recognized its seniors Thursday, Jan. 30, during a meet against Beloit at home.
Morgan Kelley, Brendan Tripp, and Tyler Walford were recognized along with their parents and siblings.
The night’s final score was 52 to 24 in Beloit’s favor.
