With only a few minutes left in Monday night’s substate game between Ellsworth and Inman, the two teams were tied after a game filled with ups and downs.
Friday night’s Class 1A regional semifinals in Claflin were an all-CPL affair with Otis-Bison defeating LaCrosse in the early game. In the nightcap, the Lady Oilers did what they do, out-gunning Victoria 86-31 in front of the home crowd.

Macy Hanzlick took the lead for her team scoring 13 points through out the game. Hanzlick also had 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.
Cara Criswell put 9 points in the basket for the Dragons.
The postseason has arrived and those green and white jerseys still say “Oilers.” Central Plains led USD 112 counterpart Wilson by just four points at the half of Monday’s Class 1A regional game in Claflin. The Oilers turned that into a running clock early in the fourth en route to a big 58-22 win.
Four members of the Ellsworth High School wrestling team qualified for the Class 3-2-1A State Tournament this weekend at Hays.
The quartet punched their ticket to the competition after finishing in the top four of their respective weight categories Friday and Saturday at Russell.
The Lady Oilers took charge of the court Tuesday, Feb. 11, against the Meade Buffaloes, winning 89-21.
Emily Ryan owned the court and the ball on the Buffaloes home turf. Ryan put 29 points on the score board. Grabbing six total rebounds Ryan also had 13 steals and nine assists.
Boys stomp Tescott

The Dragon boys took Tescott by storm at home Tuesday, Feb. 11, winning 62-31.
Camryn Eberhart swept the board putting 24 points up for the Dragons. Eberhart had two defensive and offensive rebounds.

The Bearcats traveled to Russell Thursday, Feb. 13, bringing home a total of 14 wins, including one 1st place, two 2nd places and four 3rd places.
Brendan Tripp brought home 1st place in the 220 division.

The Bearcats had a rough start to their Valentine’s evening Friday when Republic County took the ball during basketball action at Ellsworth.
Overall, the game turned into a thriller with the final reading on the scoreboard 38-37 in the ‘Cats’ favor.
