Wilson discusses street chip and seal proposal

Review of a chip and seal proposal submitted by Kirkham Michael & Associates of Ellsworth topped the agenda during Monday’s remote meeting of the Wilson City Council. Jon Halbgewachs of Kirkham Michael said Wilson currently seals one-fourth of the city streets every four years.

Officials approve county-wide burn ban

Ellsworth County commissioners approved a one-month county-wide burn ban Monday, effective immediately. The ban will remain in effect until May 6, at which time commissioners will review their decision. They could also rescind the ban before the onemonth period ends.

Stay-At-Home! It’s important. It may even save your life — or the life of someone else. That is the message Kerianne Ehrlich, Ellsworth County Health Department supervisor, has delivered time and again since the spread of the coronavirus was declared a pandemic earlier this year.

Lunch is Served

The effort is similar to the Ellsworth County summer lunch program — only it’s mobile. Two days a week, those in charge of the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo School District’s free Grab N Go breakfast and lunch deliver meals to Geneseo, Kanopolis and Ellsworth.

Blood needs great

Karin Renard’s task as community coordinator of Ellsworth’s Red Cross Bloodmobiles has always been important. It has become especially so in this age of COVID-19. “They’re really desperate for blood,” Renard said this past weekend.
