Over its more than decade of life, the Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation has distributed more than $1,020,000 in grant and scholarship money to 682 individuals and organizations.

By a vote of 18 to 5, members of the Ellsworth American Legion voted to move forward with a proposal to build a new, 100’ by 200’ multi-purpose community building on legion-owned property in Ellsworth.
American Legion member Heather McClendon spoke at the Nov. 14 meeting in favor of the project.
There were no surprises during Monday’s official canvass by the Ellsworth County commissioners of votes cast during the Nov. 5 general election.
According to Ellsworth County Clerk Shelly Vopat, 30 percent of the 4,160 eligible voters in the county voted.
Grain prices mostly down for the week
Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day, Monday, Nov. 18, were:
Wheat, bu. — $3.79, down 4 cents from Nov. 11.
Milo, bu. — $3.03, down 3 cents.
Soybeans, bu. — $7.88, up 3 cents.
Corn, bu. — $3.38, down 5 cents.
