WILSON — A Wilson couple praised Wilson Police Chief Joshua Tipton while at the same time voicing concern for his safety during Monday’s meeting of the Wilson City Council. David and Anita Boyle said they called 911 about an incident two weeks ago at their home on 25th Street.

Holyrood hopes to hear music

HOLYROOD — For many years now, Holyrood’s American Legion building has attracted generations of polka dancers. Times were especially good when performer Barefoot Becky Livermore was at the microphone, fingers flying across the keys of her familiar accordion.

‘Cafa-gym-torium’ no more

Administrators at Ellsworth Elementary School expect the Kansas State Fire Marshal to be there Aug. 14 to green light a project that turned the school into a construction site over the summer. The next day, Aug. 15, students and teachers are set to start the 2019-20 school year.

County valuation increases

Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners was a short one — just a little over an hour. During that time, officials approved the purchase of a quarter page, black and white ad in the Aug. 22 Cowtown Days section of the Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter for $189.95.
