As summer winds down with school starting today (Thursday), the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo USD 327 board met Monday at the district office with a light agenda. The biggest discussion involved the AptaFund Banking program which the district switched to earlier this year.

Teens serving the Lord

The youth group of First Baptist Church in Wilson have had a busy and blessed summer! In June, they helped with the Ellsworth County Cancer Walk, the Red Cross Blood Drive, and put on a Teen Crusade in Spearsville, La. In July they went to a Bible camp in Ottawa, Kan.

Exhibit to feature ‘Americans at Work’

The Rice County Historical Society/Coronado Quivira Museum has been selected to participate in a Smithsonian pilot project to develop a unique humanities-based exhibition about local work history.

Commission

Ellsworth County Attorney Paul J. Kasper plans to follow up on two questions asked Monday by commissioner Dennis Rolfs during the weekly commission meeting. The first questions concerned the recovery of payment for medical and dental treatments provided to inmates at the Ellsworth County Jail.
