Johnson takes 30th at State Cross Country Tournament
Ellsworth Jr./Sr. High School Senior Byron Johnson took 30th place out of 103 runners Saturday during the 3A State Cross Country Championships at the historic Rim Rock Farm north of Lawrence.
Bearcat Byron Johnson qualifies for state meet
On Oct. 22, Byron Johnson became the only member of the Ellsworth High School cross country team to qualify for state after the team competed in the 3A regional championships hosted by Goodland High School.
Bearcat varsity netters now 21-13
The Ellsworth High School varsity volleyball team improved their overall record to 21-13, with an NCAA record of 7-3 after competing Oct. 18 at Ell-Saline.The Bearcats swept all three games of the match against Ell-Saline 25-15, 25-18 and 25-23.
Bearcats boys’ runners fourth
On Oct. 13, the Ellsworth High School cross country team raveled to the Downs Golf Course to compete in the 25-team Lakeside High School Invitational.According to Coach Eric Coonrod, this meet doubles as Ellsworth’s NCAA league meet since all of the league schools competed.

Ellsworth High School runner Byron Johnson was Ellsworth’s top finisher and the Bearcats lone varsity medalist during the Ellsworth Invitational Cross Country Meet Oct. 4 in Ellsworth.Johnson, a senior, placed sixth overall.
Lady ‘Cats improve record at Claflin
On Oct. 6, the Ellsworth High School Bearcats varsity volleyball team increased their overall record to 16-9 (NCAA Record 6-2) after competing in the Central Plains Triangular.In play against Smoky Valley, Ellsworth lost the first game 25-11 and the second game, 25-20.
