Bearcats climb to 6-0 with winThe Ellsworth High School Bearcats varsity football team improved its record to 6-0 Oct. 7, with an 18-15 win on the road against the Russell Broncos.The Bearcats were 10 for 15 through the air for 135 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

FOOTBALL BRIEFS

The Ellsworth High School varsity football team is now 5-0 after defeating Lyons 55-0, Sept. 30, at Lyons.In the air, the Bearcats were one for three for 25 yards in the winning effort, with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Bearcat varsity volleyball now 15-6

The Ellsworth High School volleyball team competed against St. John and Russell Sept. 29, in the Ellsworth Triangular.In varsity action, Ellsworth defeated St. John 25-18 and 25-13. The Bearcats also defeated Russell 25-19 and 25-10.

Bearcats get Homecoming victory

The Bearcats rolled to their fourth consecutive victory during the Sept. 23 Homecoming game against the Hillsboro Trojans, winning 28-0.Will Cravens led the team on the offensive side in yards overall with 157 yards followed by Loden West with 72 yards and Layton Leiker with 56 yards.

Wilson falls in Homecoming game, 30-8

WILSON — The Dragons were slayed during the school’s homecoming game Sept. 23, losing 30-8 to the St. Francis Indians.Junior Taegan Thrasher snagged the team’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter. For the game, Thrasher had nine carries for 28 yards. He also had three catches for 20 yards.

The Ellsworth High School Bearcats Varsity Cross Country Team raced Sept. 22 on a muddy Southeast of Saline course, with the boys finishing 10th overall, and Addison Thomas and Grayson Stone each having season best times.“It was rescheduled from Sept.

Bearcats lance Knights 52-0

Having just two seniors on the team and being a predominantly young team, The Ellsworth Bearcats Football Team won their third game Friday night against The Sacred Heart Knights. The final score of the night was 52-0.

EHS runners Johnson, Holmes shine

The Ellsworth High School Varsity Cross Country Team had a good outing Sept. 15 during the St. John High School Invitational conducted at the Stafford Golf Course.According to Coach Eric Coonrod, one of the significant milestones for a 5K runner is to run under 17 minutes.
