RECORD BREAKER

Reagan Hansen, a 7th grader at Ellsworth Junior/Senior High School, broke the girls’ 7th grade record shot putt record May 11 at the league track meet in Ellsworth. The record had been held by Diane Zouzas at 31’ 04” set in 1970. Reagan threw 31’08” to break the 51 year old record. Courtesy Photo

Ellsworth 4x400 Relay team places 7th at state

Here are the Ellsworth results from this past weekend’s state track competition at Wichita: • Boys 4 x 400m Relay 7th place: 3:35.27 Luke Sharp, Joshua Rodriguez Riley Stone, Trey Anderson. • 200m 11th place: Trey Anderson 23.32. • 4 x 100m Relay 15th place: 54.

Lady Oilers 4x400 Relay team places 3rd at state

Here are the Central Plains High School results from this past weekend’s state track competition at Wichita: The girl’s 4x400 relay took 3rd in state with a time of 4:20.65. Team members are seniors Monica Short, Callie Zink and Jennah Jeffery, and sophomore Brynna Hammeke.

Central Plains qualifies in six events

Central Plains will send more than a half-dozen athletes to state track this weekend at Wichita. The girls that qualified for the state track meet: • Sophomore Brynna Hammeke, 1st, in the high jump. She cleared 5’5”. Her times were 1:01.18 in the 400m Dash, 3rd, and 27.41 in the 200m Dash, 4th.

County athletes prepare for state track

Several Ellsworth Bearcats qualified for state in three events during regional competition May 21 at Beloit. Leading the way was senior Trey Anderson, who qualified in all three events, including a 1st place in the 200m Dash.

Track competitor from Ellsworth and Central Plains brought home a dozen first place medals between them following league meets at Beloit and LaCrosse.

MONDAY’S POST-SEASON RESULTS

• The Lady ‘Cats Softball Team defeated Sylvan/ Lucas/Lincoln Monday night in the first round of the high school regional at Larned. The score was 10-1. • The Bearcat Boys Baseball Team fell in the first round of regional competition Monday night at Ellsworth. Hoisington defeated Ellsworth 6-2.
