The Ellsworth Bearcat Baseball Team managed a mostly good week, despite one loss and a couple of close calls. The ‘Cats finished 5 and 4 and 0 and 10 at a double header Thursday, April 15, at Minneapolis. Ellsworth fared better the Tuesday before with double header wins at Ellinwood.

The Ellsworth Bearcat Tennis Team ended the day April 15 in 5th place with 35 points at the Ellsworth Invitational Tennis Meet while the Central Plains Oilers Team placed 4th overall with 39 points. In No.

Ellsworth’s No. 1 doubles team of Adam Vehring and Brendan Anderson placed 1st in their category Tuesday, April 6, at the Ellsworth High School Varsity Invitational Tennis Tournament. Peyton Ryan of Central Plains took 1st in No. 1 singles.

LYONS — The Central Plains Oilers ladies track team placed fifth with 44 points, while the Oilers men’s track team placed sixth with 49 points April 9, during a regional track meet in Lyons. The results for Central Plains were: Women • 100 meter dash — Adrianne Togersen, 18th; 18.43, 18.49.

Two Ellsworth Bearcats came home Thursday, April 1, from the Russell Invitational with first place wins. Madison Kelley was first in shot put with 33’.5” and Trey Anderson plaed first in the 22m dash with a time of 22.88m.

The Ellsworth Bearcat Golf Team took second overall Thursday, April 1, at the Lake Barton Golf Course at Hoisington with a combined score of 410. Team members, pictured above with coach Kevin Haxton, are Avery Haxton, Parker McGowan, Dayton LaDuke, Will Cravens, Avery Holecek and Cady Hansen.

Bearcat junior Dayto Davis could do no wrong on the pitcher’s mound Thursday, April 1, as he threw a perfect game in Ellsworth’s 15-0 victory over the Beloit High School baseball team. Davis surrendered no runs on no hits over four innings, striking out 11 and walking none.
