CLAFLIN — The Central Plains High School Lady Oilers basketball team punched their ticket to the Class 1A Division II Girls State Basketball State Tournament by defeating the St. Paul Indians, 51-32, Monday at home in Claflin. Central Plains, ranked No. 4 at the state tourney, will play the No.

The Wilson High School boys basketball team saw its 2020-21 season come to an end Friday, March 5, with a 48-31 to powerhouse St. John’s-Tipton at Wakefield.

The Central Plains boys defeated Centre-Lost Springs at Peabody Friday in the first game of the 1A substate quarter finals. The Oilers outscored Centre in all four quarters to win 72-48. Senior Tyler Holmes led Central Plains in scoring with 18 points, including 6 from free throws.

The Lady Bearcats posted a perfect week Friday when they defeated the Lady Leopards of Lincoln, 38-22, in a non-conference game at Lincoln. The boys also ended the week in the win column with a victory over Lincoln, 68-25.
