Natoma outplays Dragons

Monday night the Wilson Dragons met a formidable foe known as the Natoma Tigers. Although Wilson fought hard — especially at the end — the Tigers still managed to pull off a 60-40 victory. The loss came at the Northern Plains League Basketball Tournament at Lincoln.

Riding a 117-game win streak, the Central Plains girls have put up all kinds of odd numbers over the past decade. At home Jan. 7, a 3-point basket from Jennah Jeffrey with 1:49 remaining gave the Lady Oilers 99 points.

The Ellsworth Bearcats were victorious over the Russell Broncos Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Bearcats quickly showed the Broncos they could score and score fast. Russell took the first shot of the game but missed.

The Lady Bearcats proved to be too much for the Russell Broncos Tuesday night, Jan. 7, defeating the Broncos, 36-28, in the first game of 2020. Russell quickly got the ball first and scored, but Maggie Windholz immediately took the ball to match the Lady Broncos’ basket.

Ellsworth wrestlers place fourth

Ellsworth’s wrestling team tied for fourth place Saturday at the 47th annual Ellsworth Wrestling Invitational, which attracted a dozen schools to Ellsworth Junior/Senior High School. The Bearcats’ Brendan Tripp placed first in the 220-pound category.
