Lady ‘Cats varsity V-Ball moves to 12-15
The Ellsworth Lady Bearcats competed against the Southeast of Saline Trojans Oct. 15. The ‘Cats defeated the Trojans in both matches, 25-10, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-20.
The wins improved the Bearcats’ record and gave them some momentum.
Lady Oilers tennis team takes second at state
PRAIRIE VILLAGE — The Central Plains Lady Oilers tennis team placed second overall in Class 3-2-1A state competition Oct. 18-19 in Prairie Village. Ellsworth placed fifth.
Bearcats fall to the Norton Bluejays
Stakes were high Friday night as the Ellsworth Bearcats played the Norton Bluejays in the fourth week of district play. Norton defeated the Bearcats, 36-14, giving Ellsworth their second loss of the season.
The game did not get off to a fast start.
Dragons crushed by Osborne 60-6
The Wilson High School Dragons football team lost another game of the 2019 season Friday, falling to the Osborne Bulldogs, 60-6. In essence, the game was over by halftime, with the Bulldog defense dominating the Wilson offense in the first and second quarters.
Oilers fall to Pratt-Skyline 46-0
The Central Plains Junior-Senior High School Oilers took another step backwards Friday, being defeated by the Pratt-Skyline Thunderbirds, 46-0. It was the fourth loss for head coach Chris Steiner and his Oilers squad for the 2019 season.
Bearcat football wins nail biter against Panthers
PHILLIPSBURG — In 30-degree weather on Friday night, the Ellsworth Bearcats beat the Phillipsburg Panthers in a stunning, low-scoring game, 14-13.
Phillipsburg won the toss and chose to defer. Ellsworth began possession on their own 34-yard line.
The Bearcat offense started off strong.
Three Bearcat runners medal at meet
Last week’s cross country competitions could almost read like a tale of two Kansas seasons. On Tuesday, it was typical fall weather, albeit a little breezy.
Ellsworth, Central Plains volleyball faceoff
CLAFLIN — On Oct. 10, the Ellsworth Lady Bearcats Volleyball team competed in a tournament at Central Plains Junior-Senior High School in Claflin.
After the tournament, the varsity squad’s record is 10-15 overall on the season, with a 5-3 record in the NCAA.
Central Plains first at regionals
PHILLIPSBURG — The Central Plains High School Lady Oilers tennis team placed first in regional play Oct. 11-12 at Phillipsburg. Lady Oiler Emily Ryan finished first in singles action, winning the regional meet.
