Lorraine seeks grant for shed

LORRAINE — The Lorraine City Council will have to explore grants to help pay the cost to build a lean to shed for the city tractor. According to city clerk Michael Boyer, two bids for the work were opened at the Jan. 21 council meeting, but no action was taken.

Ellsworth Elementary School third graders visited the Smoky Hill Museum in Salina Thursday, Jan. 30, to celebrate Kansas Day and Kansas’ 159th years as a state. The students learned how to shell and grind corn, churn butter, play pioneer games and pack their wagon for a overland journey.

Feb. 21 is the deadline to register for the Ellsworth Recreation Department’s Youth Soccer League for the 2020 spring season. Youth leagues are offered for boys and girls: • 4-6 years old • 7-9 years old • 10-14 years old Registration fee is $25 per child.
