Zvolanek is new member of Kanopolis City Council

KANOPOLIS — James Zvolanek was sworn in as the newest member of the Kanopolis City Council May 11, during the monthly meeting at Kanopolis City Hall. Zvolanek succeeds Pat Perez, who resigned.

You could call it a snow day in May. At least that was part of the discussion Monday night at the monthly meeting of the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo School Board.

USD 112 Board takes no action on day trip

WILSON — The Central Plains USD 112 board of education took no action Monday on a request for a Wilson senior day. The senior class plans a day trip to Kansas City, Mo. on May 22, a week after they graduate from high school.

Jeremiah Brown, director of the Ellsworth County EMS, resigned Monday during the weekly meeting of Ellsworth County commissioners. Brown said his last day will be Friday, June 18.

Council urged to slow speeders

WILSON — A Wilson resident voiced concerns about speeding cars at Monday’s meeting of the Wilson City Council. Mark Hill said he gets riled up at the speeding cars which are constantly going by his residence in the south part of Wilson. The speed limit there is 20 miles per hour.

Hospital board makes pick for seat   Sandy Robinson of Wilson was approved April 28 as a candidate for the Ellsworth County Medical Center board at a brief virtual special meeting of directors. President Kenny Beneda plans to leave the board at the end of June.

Nobles of Ellsworth Lodge No. 146 work tirelessly to support the communities of Ellsworth County. The lodge this year presented $1,000 to four different fire departments. These fire departments are located in Holyrood, Wilson, Ellsworth, and Kanopolis.

Jim Zvolanek to join Kanopolis City Council

KANOPOLIS — During the April 13 meeting of the Kanopolis City Council, council members learned a new person will soon be joining their ranks. Mayor Anthony Hopkins said he asked Jim Zvolanek to fill the seat formerly occupied by Pat Perez, who resigned at a past meeting.

Wilson Store Facelift

Several new shelves and display cases are part of Wilson Foods recently completed new look and flow. New items will replace discontinued ones.
