Ellsworth falls to unbeaten Hoisington

The Ellsworth Bearcats traveled to Hoisington Friday night to face the Cardinals. The Cardinals defeated the ‘Cats 37-7, never letting up from start to finish. The Bearcats won the coin toss, electing to defend first. Hoisington began with possession on its own 27 yard line.

Ellsworth volleyball competes on home turf

The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats Volleyball Team competed in two tournaments at home Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 in Ellsworth. The Lady ‘Cat varsity squad lost to Beloit in a pair of matches. In the first match, Ellsworth lost 13-25 and 14-25. In the second match, Ellsworth lost 17-25 and 10-25.

Victoria defeats the Wilson Dragons 50-34

The Wilson High School Dragons Varsity Football Team went down in defeat Oct. 9 at Victoria, 50-34. Offensively, Wilson ran 60 plays for 326 total yards. The Dragons passed for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Wilson was 5 of 8 through the air and averaged 24.4 yards per pass.

Oilers win by two against Sylvan Lucas

The Central Plains High School Oilers varsity football team won a squeaker on the road Oct. 9 to Sylvan Lucas, 28-26. On the ground, Central Plains ran 44 rushing plays for 218 yards as opposed to just 39 plays for 166 yards for Sylvan Lucas.

Bearcats get Homecoming victory over Norton

In a chilly, breathtaking homecoming game on Friday night, the Ellsworth Bearcats were victorious over the Norton Bluejays, 27-20. The home crowd and team were filled with energy throughout the entire game, giving the ‘Cats their first win of the season. Ellsworth began with possession.

Dragons crush Chase for Homecoming win

WILSON — The Wilson Dragons Varsity Football Team drove for 344 yards in total offense Friday to earn a Homecoming victory against the Chase Kats, 56-6. The Dragons dominated the first and second quarter scoring beginning in the first with a 44 yard scamper by Cooper Weinhold for a touchdown.

Bearcat runners take first at Lyons

Last Tuesday, the Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School cross country teams competed at the Lyons Invitational. It was a great day to run, and we competed against three other schools that had enough runners to qualify as teams on the boys varsity side.

Weinhold leads Wilson in win over Cougars

WILSON — Senior Cooper Weinhold scampered for 298 yards on 32 carries and 7 touchdowns to lead the Wilson Dragons Football Team to a 50-46 victory at home Sept. 25 against the Otis-Bison Cougars.
