Ellsworth Council discusses takeoffs

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth City Council, authorization was given to Mayor Alan Stefek to issue the Airport Takeoff Directive to Brad Fritchett of Wayne’s Agricultural Aviation of Ellsworth. The directive states that all future takeoffs for agricultural operations be northbound.

Welcome home EHS alumni

As Ellsworth High School celebrates its Fall Homecoming Sept. 20, alumni are being welcomed home with a Boldly Bearcat Alumni Bash. At 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, the alumni will participate in the parade down Douglas Ave. with class floats along with former queens and their courts.

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, approval was given to have H&B Communications of Holyrood provide both internet and firewall service for the county courthouse.

Wilson City

WILSON — Lori Taylor asked her fellow council members Monday to consider raising sewer rates, given the planned work to open a third cell at the sewer station. Rates are currently $15 per month for residential and businesses and $4 per $1,000 gallons for major users.

Rain puts damper on Kanopolis Park improvements

Kanopolis State Park Manager Jason Sunderland has always had big plans for the state park. As a steward of more than 15,000 acres of prime public land, Sunderland has stayed the course, improving the facilities to keep visitors coming back year after year.
