Reaction to ruined plans can make all the difference Ellsworth County’s two school districts have done a good job making sure members of the Class of 2020 received their due — despite a pandemic that shattered traditional graduation plans.

Wichita, Kansas, was established in the broad Arkansas River valley at the confluence of that river with the Little Arkansas River. The “unofficial” town had yet to be surveyed when 200 to 300 people inhabited the town in August of 1869.

USDA opens WHIP signup for losses from excessive moisture

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is making additional disaster assistance available to agricultural producers, including producers impacted by flooding and excessive moisture. Through WHIP+, USDA is helping producers recover from losses related to 2018 and 2019 natural disasters.

HOMETOWN HERO

The Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter named its first Hometown Hero in this week’s edition. John Hoch’s daughter wrote a touching tribute to her father, a driver for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Hoch, while deserving of the recognition, is not Ellsworth County’s only Hometown Hero.
