Track maintains performance through season

BELOIT — On a chilly Friday afternoon, the Ellsworth girls’ track team placed 10th at the Beloit Relays.“We only took a handful of student athletes to the Beloit Relays on Friday,” head coach Nick Rodriguez said of the May 2 meet.The rest of the team competed May 29 at the Hoisington Invitational.

Ellsworth golfers set personal records on road

MINNEAPOLIS — On April 15, the Ellsworth High School golf team had a day of medals, beautiful weather and multiple personal records at the Minneapolis High School Golf Invitational.

Girls’ track takes third at home

The Ellsworth girls’ track team placed third at their home meet April 15.The meet was followed two days later by another competition in Lindsborg at the Smoky Valley Invitational April 17.“Having two meets just one day apart is extremely difficult,” head coach Nick Rodriguez said.

Ellsworth tennis takes sixth at home

Ellsworth Jr./Sr.High School hosted seven schools for its Varsity Invitational Tournament April 8. The Ellsworth team placed sixth with 31 points. Central Plains Jr./Sr. High School placed first with 64.

Baseball win first two games

MINNEAPOLIS — The Ellsworth baseball team started its season strong March 28. In the first doubleheader of the season against the Minneapolis Lions, the Bearcats won both games, 13-11 and 15-5.The first game got off to a lukewarm start.

Girls’ seasons ends at substate playoff game

The Ellsworth girls’ basketball team played against the Goodland Cowboys in first-round substate semifinal play Thursday, March 6, losing 45-26 and knocking them out of the tournament.Both teams struggled to put points on the board at the start of the game.

Bearcat girls head to postseason action

The Ellsworth girls’ basketball team played against the Sacred Heart Knights Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Ellsworth’s Senior Night, and won 38-25. With the win, the team nabbed the NCAA League title, marking their first league championship since 1998.
