Zier places first in carcass show

Brekyn Zier of rural Lincoln won the Ellsworth County 4-H Fair carcass contest for the third year in a row.The contest is sponsored by Ellsworth Packing, Jake and Kim Schneider of Ellsworth. A large crowd attended the open house Aug. 23.

Ullom celebrates 10 years

LORRRAINE — From 1896 to 1909, Pastor Robert Stracke ministered the congregation of the Lorraine First Baptist Church according to longtime church member Ron Etchison. Stracke’s 13-year tenure was the longest in the church’s 145-year history.

Peschka resigns as Wilson mayor

WILSON — An unexpected resignation and several appointments brought change to the Wilson City Council at Monday’s meeting of the governing body.After three-and-a-half years as mayor, Mike Peschka submitted his resignation, effective immediately.

Detention pond options to be explored

At the Aug. 16 meeting of the Krizek Park Advisory Committee, Brian Foster of BG Consultants gave a presentation on what it would cost to fill the detention basin at Krizek Park. That cost would be $708,404.25.

COVID cases, symptoms at ECMC

COVID-19 has once again reared its head in Ellsworth County.At the Aug. 16 meeting of the Ellsworth County Medical Center board of directors, Administrator Jim Kirkbride said the hospital has recently seen a few patients with COVID-like symptoms and also one admission.
