Commission

Terry Kueser of Ellsworth, a former Ellsworth County commissioner, has been reappointed to a three-year term on the Central Kansas Community Corrections Advisory Board. The reappointment was made during Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners.

Wilson discusses guest tax

WILSON — Discussion of a proposed new transient guest tax dominated Monday’s meeting of the Wilson City Council. The proposal would increase the tax from the current .25 percent to 2 percent and include the Midland Railroad Hotel and the Simple Haven Bed and Breakfast.

Kanopolis water project moves forward

KANOPOLIS — The city’s water project will include a new water tower that’s slightly bigger than the one Kanopolis has now. The news came at the council’s April 9 meeting at Kanopolis City Hall, as part of a presentation on the city’s $2.1 million water project.

Sawyer ventures to Ellsworth

Ellsworth County, like the rest of the State of Kansas, may be dominantly Republican but the Ellsworth County Democrat leadership hope that will change. Saturday, the first spring meeting of the Ellsworth County Democrats brought Rep. Tom Sawyer, D-Wichita, to the Ellsworth Steakhouse.

Looking to the Future

HOLYROOD — Sixty-four patrons of the Central Plains USD 112 school district spent a little over two hours April 11 working on long range planning recommendations for the district. The result was a set of common themes that will be presented to the board for consideration.
