Childcare center faces a more secure future

Four months can make a huge difference and in the case of the Ellsworth Childcare and Learning Center, it’s all for the better. “I think the story here is that the childcare center is solvent,” director Stacie Schmidt said this week.

Ellsworth County Cancer Fund Triathlon begins 10th year

The Ellsworth County Cancer Fund Triathlon is set for Friday, June 14. The theme of “10 Years of Joining Hands”, recognizes it is the 10th year for the annual event. It will be at the Ellsworth Jr.- Sr. High School’s Shanelec Field. A prime rib dinner for the survivor’s will be served at 5 p.m.

American Legion holds memorial service

Class of 1969 to celebrate 50 years

The Marquette High School class of 1969 will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Following the Marquette High School Alumni Banquet Saturday, May 25, members and friends will gather at the American Legion Hall in downtown Marquette. All are welcome to stop by and join the reunion.

Tipton offered Wilson PD job

The Wilson City Council has offered the vacant job of Wilson Police chief to Joshua Tipton of Holcomb. The motion came Monday afternoon during a special meeting at Wilson City Hall. He was offered the job at $36,400 per year for a 43 hour work week.
