High school athletes are preparing for the spring sports season as tennis matches are drawing near. Everyone is eager to begin, including coaches and players.“I am excited to travel as a team and become better friends with the other guys,” Anthony Halbgewachs said.

The Lady Bearcat softball team is looking for a season like no other.Last year the team graduated three seniors, but every other player has returned.“All the returning players should be successful this year,” Head Coach Kenny Cravens said.

As the weather warms up, high school athletes are gearing up for the spring sports season. Many players are ready for the season to start, whether it be their first season or their last.

DODGE CITY — Twenty points ended up standing between the Central Plains High School girls’ basketball team and their advancing towards a repeat state championship as the Doniphan West Mustangs defeated them 60-40 in quarterfinal play March 8 at the state tournament.

RANSOM — As the final 10 seconds ticked away on the clock, tears flowed freely on the Dragon bench as the Wilson girls watched their team’s — and school’s — final basketball season come to a close Saturday at the Class 1A Division II sub-state.

NORTON — The Ellsworth Jr./Sr. High School Lady Bearcats fell to the Norton Bluejays 47-36 in sub-state play Feb. 27.
